Green Smoothie Recipes and popcicles

Here are some of my latest converts to the greatness of green smoothies. This one happens to be berry pink. Brenna's favorite color.

    Berry Pink Smoothie

  • 1 cup of unfiltered cranberry juice
  • 1 1/2  cup of frozen strawberries
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 of a small beet juiced or not depending on your kids
  • 1 small lemon, peeled and seeded
  • a hand full of ice cubes
  • may need a tsp of  raw honey for the new kids
Put the juice and berries in the blender. Blend until smooth. Next add the frozen banana, lemon and beet juice. Blend.  Add a hand full of ice cubes if too thick. Taste to see if you might need a touch of honey. If so put it in and blend until smooth.  It should be tart and yummy!

We always like to put the leftovers on the Popsicle molds for later.

Summer Fun Activities

I take care of 3 children. Ages 2, 9 and 12. We were looking for some fun activities to do this summer. My daughter-in-law reminded me about the balloons you make animals with. She bought a kit at the toy store. It included a pump , 20 balloons and an instruction book for $9.95. So we learned a few basics of balloon art and left.

We wanted to find some of those balloons.  They come in different sizes. The most common being the 2x60. I figured that must be the diameter and length when blown up.

We headed to the store and they didn't have them at the JoAnn's by the house. So we bought a pump there and some other stuff. My daughter-in-law found packages of 25 for $3.39. She bought a few packets and I bought one from her.

Next time I went to take care of the kids I brought the balloons. We had a blast making hats and swords, etc.

Here are the masterpieces!!!

Summer Fun with Green Smoothies

My grand kids enjoy Popsicles. Why not make them healthy. Here are a few recipes they like.

Hand juice a lime and add both the juice and pulp to a food processor or blender with the rest of the ingredients except the coconut.   Blend until smooth.  Add the shredded coconut and pulse just long enough to mix it in.  Taste your mixture and add a small amount of honey if desired.
